yield coffee - cincinnati, ohio

Yield Coffee Roasters in Cincinnati, Ohio has really been impressing me lately.  From their blends to their business practices they get high marks across the board.  Relational Coffee + Sustainable Development is their tagline, and you can see it in practice with how they run their company.

The results of all of this are shown in the quality and uniqueness in the cup.  The Old School Dark Roast (pictured above) is my current favorite offering from Yield.

They even give you specific names of whose farm grew the coffee, and information on how the farm is operated and the community initiatives the farm supports.

Yield Coffee Roasters themselves have partnered with an organization called "Amigos for Christ" to construct modern bathrooms alongside families who need them in Nicaragua.  This project is directly supported by sales of their coffee, as they leverage 10 percent of the profits towards it.  For more information on this, click the "Project" link on Yield Coffee's homepage.

Yield offers several excellent coffees which you can find for sale through their website.  They offer "A Taste of Yield" Coffee Sampler which includes 4 different 4 oz bags of coffee.   It also includes a small brewing guide and a packet of Third Wave Water to ensure optimal water quality.  (Check out "A Taste of Yield" here.)  We have not yet covered Third Wave Water here on Sustainable Java, but we certainly will in a future post.  (For now though, if you're curious, check out Third Wave Water's website here.)

I also want to highlight the Nicaragua Cafe Diego, a fantastic medium roast coffee with notes of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel.  I urge you to check out Yield's page for this coffee, as it has an interesting story.  (Tap here for the link.)  There is a wonderful documentary movie on this story as well:

Yield Coffee Roasters also offer wholesale solutions for cafe, office, restaurant, church, or hotel.  They also offer equipment at a discount for wholesale partners from popular manufacturers like La Marzocco, Mahlkonig, or more.  (Take a look at their wholesale page here.)
